Using Limiters

Limiters in IEEE Xplore Advanced Search

  1. Author: Filters results to show publications by a specific author. This is useful for tracking the work of influential researchers or reviewing an author’s contributions to a field.
  2. Affiliation: Narrows results to documents associated with a particular institution, organization, or company. This is helpful for finding research produced by specific universities, research labs, or corporate R&D teams.
  3. Publication Title: Allows users to search within specific journals, conference proceedings, or magazines. This is ideal when users want articles only from a particular source, such as IEEE Transactions on Power Systems or IEEE Spectrum.
  4. Publisher: Filters results based on the publishing organization. For example, users can choose to view only IEEE publications or include other publishers like IET or MIT Press if relevant to their search.
  5. Supplemental Items: Limits results to supplemental materials, such as datasets, appendices, or additional multimedia content provided with articles. This is useful for users needing extra resources for data analysis or project replication.
  6. Conference Location: Restricts results to papers presented at conferences held in a specific location. This can be helpful for users interested in regional conferences or when analyzing research trends from particular geographical areas.
  7. Publication Topics: Filters results by topic categories, allowing users to focus on specific research areas such as artificial intelligence, communications, or renewable energy. This limiter is beneficial for narrowing results to relevant subject areas within the vast IEEE database.
